Imagine Schools, Inc. serves nearly 20,000 K-12 students in public charter schools in nine states and the District of Columbia, with schools in development in seven other states. Imagine Schools’ purpose is to assist parents in educating their children through a challenging program of study and strong moral development within a nurturing and orderly learning environment.
Bowman Consulting was retained to redevelop an existing warehouse into Imagine School’s 8th Street location. Throughout the course of the project, Bowman Consulting team was challenged with tight time lines, and expediated reviews to meet the requirements of this fast track project. Bowman Consulting’s ability to expedite the approval and permitting process helped keep this project on schedule.
At Bowman Consulting’s suggestion, the project wasvalue engineered to eliminate a new SWM facility and parking lot and instead, rehabilitate an existing paved area. This resulted in extensive cost and time savings for the client.
In addition, Bowman Consulting’s engineers provided pick-up and drop-off traffic circulation handouts for distribution to parents. This helped to satisfy D.C. traffic management requirements and provided for a smooth transition to project construction.
The overall scope of services included water and sewer layouts, a stormwater management plan, and site design. Public space abandonment plans were drafted, submitted, and carried through issuance. In addition, Bowman Consulting developed the school’s on-site playground, providing layout plans and equipment selection per safety codes.
