Courtland Farms Water Reclamation Facility, Storage Pond & Irrigation Pump Station
Loudoun County, VA

Bowman was commissioned by the developer to design the project which consists of a water reclamation facility (WRF), effluent pump station and forcemain, irrigation pump station, and reclaimed water line. The wastewater flows from the homes in the development through 8-inch gravity sewer lines to the water reclamation facility. The water reclamation facility consists of a Biologically Engineering Single Sludge Treatment System (BESST). The treated effluent is pumped from the WRF to a 15.5 million gallon holding pond at the site. From there, the irrigation pump station pumps the water through approximately 3.2 miles of reclaimed water line to an existing irrigation holding pond at the Creighton Farms/Ritz Carlton Golf Course. At the golf course, the reclaimed water is discharged into the irrigation holding pond system and ultimately sprayed on the greens, tees, fairways and roughs for all holes of the golf course. This provides approximately 110 acres with spray irrigation at the golf course. In addition, the operator has the option to pump the reclaimed water to the Courtland Farms spray irrigation fields. This will provide approximately 20.37 acres for spray irrigation at Courtland Farms.
