The visual elements of a street, including the road, adjoining buildings, street furniture, trees and open spaces, etc, that combine to form the street's character are a streetscape. The streetscape involves a complex set of relationships between the natural and built environment, community planning, multiple transportation modes, utility and infrastructure improvements, economic revitalization, aesthetics, and orientation. Every streetscape project has unique features that merge design with the community characteristics. Common elements typically include fast track construction, extensive community involvement, and strict adherence to schedule and budget.

Bowman Consulting's professionals provide a full range of streetscape design services, backed by direct project experience throughout Virginia. Many of these projects were funded by Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) or were TEA-21 projects (Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century).
